Dirty Boys

Dirty Boys and Hopped Up Farm are owned and operated by Fred, a fourth-generation farmer whose family has raised cattle in the mountains of West Virginia for nearly 80 years. In 2016, he expanded the family farm by producing soil amendments and growing hops, creating new opportunities for West Virginia agriculture.

Through Dirty Boys, Fred produces biochar, mealworm frass, worm extract, and other soil amendment products designed to improve soil performance and support crop production. His interest in soil health and farm innovation has led to the development of products used by home gardeners, growers, and agricultural producers throughout the region.

At Hopped Up Farm, Fred grows hops for West Virginia breweries, demonstrating that high-quality hops can be successfully produced in the state's mountain climate. As demand has grown, he has continued expanding production to serve local breweries and strengthen the state's brewing industry.

By combining generations of farming experience with new agricultural practices, Fred continues to develop products that support West Virginia farmers, gardeners, and agricultural businesses while building on his family's long tradition of farming.
